Canvassing

Canvassing turns a territory into worked doors. You draw a turf, load the addresses inside it, and hand a rep a knock map where every pin is a door and its color is the last thing that happened there. What the rep records at the door flows into the same CRM the rest of Business Dash runs on — no export, no second system.

This section is written for the Organization persona and the reps working the doors. It assumes you've already set up your territory; the focus here is what happens on the step and where the results land.

The pieces

  • Turfs — the boundary you draw and the addresses inside it become doors.
  • The knock map — a phone-first map and door list your rep works a street from. Built list-first, so it keeps working when the map tiles or the signal don't.
  • Dispositions — the outcomes you knock with. The palette is yours: you define the labels, colors, and symbols, and add disqualifiers.
  • The funnel — pitched, interested, appointment, sold, tracked as stages so you can tell whether the pitch or the targeting needs work.
  • Lead promotion — a genuinely interested door graduates into the CRM as a lead automatically, and an appointment or sale opens a deal.

Built for a doorstep

The knock recorder is designed for a phone held one-handed on a step: large touch targets, inputs sized so the browser doesn't zoom mid-knock, and a save button that never hides under the phone's home indicator. Most doors are a single tap; the ones worth more open up for interest, a come-back time, the homeowner's details, and notes.

See Knocking & Dispositions for how a knock is recorded and how the disposition palette works.

The doorstep and the pipeline are one database

The reason canvassing lives inside Business Dash rather than beside it: a door that turns into a real prospect becomes a CRM lead the moment it's recorded, and an appointment or a sale opens a deal in the pipeline. There's nothing to sync overnight and nothing for a rep to retype.

See The Funnel & Leads for how the funnel stages work and exactly when a door becomes a lead.
