Email

Three different kinds of mail

"Email" covers three things on BusinessDash, and they follow different rules:

ExamplesWho it goes to
Workspace mailQuotes, invoices, contract links, job offers, form submission alerts, autoresponders, staff notificationsOne person at a time, because something happened
CampaignsA newsletter or announcement sent to a segmentMany contacts at once, on purpose
Mailboxesdana@yourcompany.com, read and replied to inside the workspaceWhoever writes to that address

Workspace mail is the bulk of what a business actually sends, and all of it goes through one place, so it is all logged and all subject to the same rules. Campaigns add an audience and an unsubscribe link. Mailboxes are the only part that also receives.

What your customers see in the From line

Before you verify a domain, your mail still sends — from a BusinessDash address wearing your business name. A recipient sees Your Company <notifications@…> rather than something called "Notifications", which names the mechanism and tells them nothing.

What does not happen is your own domain appearing in the From line before it is verified. Putting an unverified domain there is precisely what gets mail marked as spoofed, and the damage lands on your domain, not ours.

Once a domain is verified, mail is sent from it and the display name follows who actually sent it:

The send came fromDisplay nameReplies go to
A person clicking sendDana Reed from Your CompanyDana
A shared mailbox (jobs@)Jobs from Your CompanyThe shared address
A schedule or automationYour CompanyYour configured reply address

A message that says "just reply" and lands in an unmonitored inbox is worse than one that never invited a reply, which is why the reply address follows the sender rather than being set once and forgotten.
