Selling website templates
What a template is here
A template is a complete website for a particular trade — the pages, the styling, the navigation and the images — that another business installs onto their own site in one step.
It is not a theme they have to wire up afterwards. The blocks that need data are connected to their business on the way in: a quote-request form posts to their forms, a sign-in button uses their sign-in, a product grid reads their catalogue. The buyer gets a working site, not a starting point.
That is the whole product. A template that looks right but leaves someone a weekend of reconnecting is worth less than one that is plainer and works on arrival.
What you keep
You keep 90% of every sale. BusinessDash takes 10%.
BusinessDash is the merchant of record, which means we handle the checkout, the receipt, the refund and the chargeback. You are not chasing anybody for money, and a buyer's bank dispute is not your afternoon. Earnings accrue per sale and pay out to your connected account on a cadence.
Who can sell
Anyone can apply. Nothing is sold automatically:
- Apply from Templates in your dashboard. You pick a public handle, a display name, and accept the creator agreement.
- A person reviews the application. You stay in
pendinguntil they decide. - Once approved, you can author drafts.
Your handle becomes part of a public URL — your demo links today, your creator page later — so pick one you will still want in a year.
If the creator agreement changes, you re-accept it before you can author or sell again. Approval is not permanent consent to terms that have since moved.
A draft is private
A template you create is a draft, and a draft is visible to you and to nobody else — not to other creators, not to buyers browsing the catalogue, not to anyone who guesses its URL. It stays that way at every stage until a reviewer publishes it.
So you can start one, leave it half-finished for a month, and nothing about it is public.
The path from idea to listing
| Step | Where | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Apply as a creator | Dashboard → Templates | A person reviews it |
| Start a draft | Dashboard → Templates → New template | Listing + first version created, private to you |
| Build it | Site builder | Pages, styles, images |
| Submit | Dashboard → Templates → Submit | Automated checks, then a human reviewer |
| Published | Catalogue | Buyers can find and install it |
