Personas
Within an organization, Business Dash presents information through two primary personas. A persona is not a different account or user type — it is simply a different perspective of the same organization's data, optimized for a particular use case.
Organization Persona
The Organization Persona provides a company-wide view of the business. Information is presented from the perspective of the organization as a whole, without being scoped to a specific staff member.
This view typically includes:
- Company-wide dashboards and analytics
- Organization settings
- Staff management
- Customer management
- Shared resources and organizational data
The Organization Persona is intended for users who need visibility across the entire company.
User Persona
The User Persona presents the platform from the perspective of an individual staff member.
Rather than displaying all organizational data, this persona automatically combines and filters information based on the currently authenticated user. It provides a personalized workspace that surfaces the items, tasks, customers, projects, and notifications most relevant to that individual.
Examples include:
- My Dashboard
- My Tasks
- My Calendar
- My Customers
- My Projects
- Personalized notifications and activity
Although the data originates from the organization, it is presented through the lens of the current user.
Persona Switching
Staff members may switch between the Organization and User personas depending on the task at hand. A manager might use the Organization Persona to view company-wide reports and the User Persona to manage their personal tasks and customer assignments — all without changing accounts or logging out.
The persona context is independent of permissions: switching personas does not grant or revoke access. Permissions are evaluated consistently regardless of which persona the user is viewing through.
Permissions and Personas
Permissions are evaluated alongside personas, not through them. See the Permissions & Access Control page for how roles, teams, and departments interact with the persona system.
