Compensation & Payroll

Pay is where a lot of small numbers have to add up to one correct number. Business Dash computes it from records the rest of the platform already holds, so a paycheck can always be traced back to the things that produced it.

The pieces

  • Time clock feeds hourly earnings.
  • Pay agreements define the rate and terms for a person or role.
  • Commission pays out on closed sales.
  • Adjustments and chargebacks are first-class, so a correction is a recorded event rather than a quiet edit.
  • Payroll runs gather it all into something you prepare, approve, and mark paid.

Commission that reads off the sale

A rep's commission traces back to a deal you can open in the CRM. The closed sale the pipeline records is the same event the commission engine pays on — there isn't a second number kept somewhere else that has to be reconciled.

Participants and splits are set per sale, and commission pools can be kept confidential from the people in them: a rep sees their own earnings without seeing a teammate's. Computing a cycle's commissions is one action, not a spreadsheet rebuilt by hand each period.

For how a sale becomes commissionable, see How You Get Paid.

From clocked hours to a paid run

A payroll run is a sequence of recorded steps rather than a single opaque button:

  1. Prepare — gather the earnings due for the period.
  2. Approve — a manager signs off on the numbers.
  3. Mark paid — the run is closed once the money's gone out.

Because each stage is on the record, the question "why was this paycheck this amount" always has an answer you can point at — the hours, the agreement, the commissions, and the run they were paid in.
