Infractions & Offboarding
The people record only helps you later if it's honest about what was claimed versus what was concluded. Business Dash keeps those two things apart, and closes out a departure with the same discipline.
An allegation is not a finding
Logging a concern doesn't decide it. An infraction moves through distinct states:
- Allegation — a concern is recorded. It's what someone reported, nothing more.
- Finding — after it's been looked into, the outcome is recorded: substantiated or not. This is your determination, kept separate from the original claim.
- Response — the employee's own account is attached to the record, so their side is part of the same file rather than a separate email nobody can find.
Keeping these apart is the difference between "someone said" and "we determined." When you read the record months later, you can tell which is which.
Legal hold
When a matter has to be preserved — a dispute, a claim, anything that might be reviewed — a legal hold locks the record so it isn't altered or cleaned up while it's active. You set it when it's needed and the record stays intact for as long as the hold is on.
Offboarding that finishes
Departures run on a checklist you define per role. Because the steps are the same every time, a friendly resignation and a for-cause exit both close out the same way:
- access is pulled,
- equipment and accounts are logged,
- an exit interview is recorded.
An infraction with a substantiated finding can feed a for-cause offboarding, so the reason and the departure stay connected on the record. The value of the checklist is that nothing important rides on someone remembering it during a stressful week.
